Elle Jefferson

Hi Elle, thanks for the interview. I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Elle over the last year and she is one of the nicest authors I have come across. I hope that you check out her books.

First off I want to talk about the series.

It all started for me with At Death It Begins. I couldn’t put it down. How did you come up with the storyline?

First off Kelly you are making me blush and thank you so much for having me. Truth be told I love romance books and I'm a bit obsessed with vampires I combined the two and At Death It Begins was born. One thing I've always found tragic in most vampire books is the vampires themselves. They can only come out at night, burn in the sun and they live forever, YUCK. So I decided to create the kind of vampire I'd want to be. One that could move among humans without notice. Which to me makes them more scary and more exciting.

The Second Book was In Death’s Touch. What I love about these books is that they don’t follow the normal Vampire Lore. The characters are real and interesting. I also love the mystery behind the story. Your protagonist is funny and engaging. Is her character modeled after anyone?

Actually, Lendyn is modeled after my cousin and my best friend (who's names I'll leave out for fear they'd hang me if they knew). They each have interesting traits that I thought would make for a likable if not a bit awkward leading lady.

At the writing of this newsletter, I am anxiously waiting for the release of the third book After Death. At the time of publication the book will be available.

Writing a great series takes lot of time and energy. How did you balance your writing life with your family life?

Balance? Hahahaha, what is this balance you speak of? Seriously, though I'm very lucky because my husband and my children are very supportive. When I'm in my writing cave they let me be even bring me pickles and Coke Zero as needed. These books wouldn't even be a dream without their continued support. I'm a very lucky woman.

You also have a new YA novel called Wishful Thinking. Do you think this is the direction that you will be headed for future projects or can we expect more amazing paranormal stories from you?

I love the paranormal so you can definitely expect to see more of my crazy paranormal stories out there.

Where do you find your inspiration?

People watching. Wherever I go I watch the people around me. The way they walk, talk interact with others and when I see someone interesting I give them a backstory and if the backstory is interesting enough it tends to grow into a novel.

If you were offered a movie deal for At Death it Begins, who would you cast for your main characters Callum and Lendyn? That's easy I'd cast Zoe Saldana as Lendyn and David Gandy as Callum (God that man is sexy as sin)

What’s next for you or should I say what’s next for my reading pleasure?

After Death is finished I plan to catch up on my TBR (there's some sexy reading wink wink) I've been dying to read, and crafting. After that I plan to start working on a New Adult two-parter called Descent Into Madness which will involve some paranormal and a little sci-fi and of course romance.
